CERTIFIED intermediate FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR

3-Day Intermediate Firearms Instructor

This is a 3-day Instructor Certification Course that is designed to help the currently Certified Concealed Carry Instructor go to the next level.  Instructors are taught how to effectively teach firearm operator skills and develop dynamic and practical range training relevant to their business or client needs. Drills on the range enforce skills in the areas of defensive shooting accuracy, multiple threats, decision-making, turning drills, challenge commands, identifying threats, tactical use of cover, firing from various positions, and use of verbal commands. Instructors will create their own intermediate-level course and demonstrate their understanding by teaching the course they created using peer and instructor feedback.

Day 1 is either done as a live Zoom or in-person classroom session where we will take a serious deep dive into:

  • Defining Intermediate Firearms Training
  • Training Philosophies
  • Firearms Course Design
  • Firearms Safety Rules versus Range Safety Rules
  • Target Selection/Design and Training Objectives
  • Serious Injury Protocol
  • Line Drills
  • Performance-Based vs Outcome-Based Training
  • HFG Training Protocols (see details in next paragraph)

The HFG (Human Factors Group) Training Protocols section is a mini-class by itself! This covers various instructional methods designed to enhance a student’s ability to learn survival techniques, increase his/her confidence level and assist in the successful application of the techniques. Subjects included are:

  • Identify the three variables that affect survival and combat training
  • Identify the two important elements of survival training
  • Identify the instructional methods that enhance the student's ability to learn quickly
  • Identify three considerations that create a training environment in which the students will have a positive training experience quickly
  • Understanding the difference between soft wiring and hard wiring
  • Identify and describe the three sequential stages of training
  • Identify the stimulus-response training principle.

After day one the instructor will use what they have learned to prepare a firearms course including skills covered, range drills used, ammunition needs, student equipment requirements, target selection, safety brief, etc. The instructor should be able to explain how they have implemented newly learned training principles, methodologies, and protocols. The custom course that the instructor creates will be used on Day 2 and Day 3 at the range.

Day 2 - 3 is conducted at the live-fire range where instructors will set up, and run each other through segments of the course they created including range drills. After each presentation, peer and instructor feedback will be provided to facilitate a constructive review. Creativity and thinking outside the box are emphasized in this course.

One unique advantage to all Bravo Tactical courses is that we bring the "range to the road". This means we travel and supply, for your use, all range equipment needed for you to develop and administer your intermediate-range drills. This includes an eight-pack steel targeting system, numerous portable target stands, various silhouette/command/shoot and no-shoot targets, vertical/horizontal and V-TAC barricades, orange ground cones, a shot-timer, and more.

This course provides you not only the information but will help you develop the skills and confidence to create and safely administer your own custom courses. This will allow you to build performance-based curriculum for your customers using a systematic approach to training, ultimately creating new streams of revenue for your training business and a better overall student/instructor experience.
